Whales, whales, and more whales today! We were surrounded by humpbacks in all directions, and stopped counting after 20 different pods were seen. Our morning started quiet, with three to four minute down-times, then we picked up a tail slapping, peduncle throwing male who went crazy for the next 30 minutes.

At one point, he swam toward the bow of Whale One and tail slapped right up to the people, and then proceeded to perform a few peduncle throws splashing some of our passengers. Our afternoon cruise was sensational with a record number of whales seen we visited eight different pods and getting something special at every pod we stopped at.

Two amazing highlights was a single male yearling (last years calf). This little guy showed us every trick in the book: breaching, peck slapping, and peduncle throwing all around us. Another highlight was a huge mum, three escorts, and a calf that was pure black – not a single white mark on his belly or tail. He tail slapped and breached just like a professional. Today was another incredible day onboard Whale One.
