Morning Trip

Such stunning weather on the sunshine coast today with warm sunshine and favourable seas! First whales of the day were a mother and a yearling approximately 5 nautical miles offshore! The yearling did some peduncle throws for us!

Heading out a little further and found a sub-adult at 8.6 nautical miles east of Mooloolaba. This subadult mugged our boat and decided to do some laps around an under the boat! This gave our guests a great chance to see him and experience the majestic creature in its natural environment! Not only did we have whale activity today but we saw plenty of other marine life! We saw a very large green turtle, a pufferfish and had a huge pod of dolphins riding the waves of the bow of the boat as we came back into shore!

Afternoon Trip

Our first whale for the afternoon was 7 nautical miles out and it was a quite sub-adult cruising along. We headed east after seeing large splashes in the distance we saw a pod of 4 sub-adults displaying boisterous mating behaviour. They mugged the boat for 45minutes and came in to play with us. One of them was manly black with only a small amount of white, these markings are usually found in the northern hemisphere!

On our way back only 500 metres off Point Cartwright we spotted a huge breach from massive female who would have been about 30-35 tonnes! She was accompanied by our second spotted newborn calf of the season! This big mumma was teaching her young calf how to breach and play. She would throw herself into the air and he would playfully copy her behaviour!
