We had a lovely calm morning on the water with clear skies and a gentle swell. We encountered a mother and calf off Point Cartwright who put on a display for us with the calf doing chin slaps and breaches. We spotted another mother with her calf cruising along and then at 4 nautical miles off shore we saw our third mother with her calf. This last pair came up to the boat for a look and gave us some wonderful close encounters.
This afternoon we had saw a good number of whales starting with a mother and calf again just off Point Cartwright, then a few pods of 4 performing with pec slaps, close encounters and fluke up dives.
