An absolutely picture-perfect day on the water today with cloudless skies and not even a breeze all day!! Everyone appreciated what the coast is renowned for – Sunshine and the whales were back to play today.
Initially, we were entertained by a show-off young female as she breached, pectoral slapped and generally tried to unsuccessfully to attract attention from any nearby males. She then seemed to sulk and stay down for a while so we moved on while enjoying a great lunch. Soon came to three cruising humpbacks that gave us a few close encounters as they checked out the passengers on-board.
As time ran out we headed back in to town only to be stopped by a mother and calf that briefly surfaced – fairly illusive and no time left so we picked up a friendly pod of bottlenose dolphins that wanted a ride. All agreed it was a pretty special way to end a great day out.
